Who Is A2O SOUL?
A2O SOUL is a 15-member multinational boy group under A2O Entertainment, founded by former SM Entertainment chief producer Lee Soo-man. The group debuted on October 13, 2026, with โSuperstar,โ a synth-pop track co-written by longtime SM producer Yoo Young-jin, HAAN and GENT!. The group is part of the A2O Cosmic Epic, a shared fictional universe centred on a planet called Soulite, and shares that narrative with A2O Lite and the earlier girl group A2O May.
Group History
Formation and Pre-Debut
A2O Entertainment was established by Lee Soo-man after he sold his SM Entertainment shares to HYBE in 2023 and left the company. His three-year noncompete agreement expired in early 2026, clearing the way for a domestic return. Before A2O SOULโs debut, the company operated a trainee system called A2O Rookies. Eight of the fifteen A2O SOUL members were first presented through A2O Rookies, including TEO, GAKU, JUNE, SEE-ONE, TAI, SONO, ZAI, AYDEN and ZET. The trainee team released a pre-debut remake single, โCANDY,โ in December 2024, with ZAI, AYDEN and ZET among the participants.
Official Debut
The group was unveiled at the โWelcome to Souliteโ global debut showcase on October 12, 2026, at KINTEX in Goyang. A2O Lite performed โNeon,โ followed by A2O SOUL with โSuperstarโ. The studio version of โSuperstarโ was released on October 13 at 6 p.m. KST. The debut stage was preceded by a music video filmed using 4D Gaussian Splatting, a multi-camera reconstruction technology Lee Soo-man presented as central to A2Oโs โculture technologyโ strategy.
Breakthrough Success
โSuperstarโ reached No. 18 on YouTube Koreaโs trending music chart. On Chinaโs QQ Music, it ranked No. 2 on the new songs chart, No. 6 on the popular songs chart and No. 4 on the global music video chart. On the QQ Music new songs chart, it placed directly behind A2O Liteโs โNeon,โ giving the agency the top two positions. These are early, market-specific figures; they do not yet establish long-term commercial performance.
Major Career Milestones
- October 12, 2026: Global debut showcase at KINTEX with A2O Lite.
- October 13, 2026: Release of โSuperstar,โ the debut digital single and pre-release track from the debut EP.
- October 18, 2026: First music-show stage on Mnetโs M Countdown.
- November 9, 2026: Scheduled release of the five-track debut EP Superstar, featuring double lead tracks โSuperstarโ and โDancing in the Darkโ.
Recent Activities
As of late October 2026, the group is in the pre-release promotion cycle for the Superstar EP. The tracklist includes โSuperstar,โ โDancing in the Dark,โ โWhile Weโre Young,โ โVery First Love (์ฒซ์ฌ๋)โ and โMoonlight Shadowโ. A2O Entertainment has described all five tracks as โnew synthwave,โ a genre label the company coined for the groupโs musical identity.
Agency and Management
A2O SOUL is managed by A2O Entertainment, headquartered in Singapore with operations in South Korea. Lee Soo-man serves as key producer and shaped the albumโs musical direction, personally selecting songwriters he had not previously worked with. Yoo Young-jin, a former SM director and producer behind H.O.T.โs โWarriorโs Descendantโ and aespaโs โNext Level,โ moved to A2O Entertainment and contributed to both A2O SOUL and A2O Liteโs debut music. The companyโs parent entity is listed as Blooming Grace in some Korean reporting. No individual member contract terms have been disclosed.

Swedish songwriter and producer Alex Karlsson, who attended the showcase, described the sound as retaining โsome rootsโ of Lee Soo-manโs earlier work while incorporating โa lot of new stuffโ. The groupโs broader genre positioning is โZalpha pop,โ a term A2O uses to describe music aimed at the Z and Alpha generations.
