Who Is A2O LITE?
A2O LITE is a nine-member multinational girl group under A2O Entertainment, the agency established by Lee Soo-man in 2024 after his exit from SM Entertainment. The group is part of a larger project that includes the boy group A2O SOUL, and both acts exist within a shared fictional universe called the A2O Cosmic Epic. The name “LITE” is associated with themes of light and brightness, with A2O describing the group as “a girl group about to become K-pop’s new light.” The lineup consists of three Korean members (YOUNG, VORA, AYUNE), one Japanese member (HIMEKI), three Chinese members (XILI, MERCI, AIJING), one Thai member (RADA), and one member with dual U.S. and Japanese citizenship (OA).
A2O LITE’s debut single “NEON” is a bass-heavy dance-pop track that showcases the group’s powerful choreography and youthful energy. The song was written, composed, and arranged with the involvement of Yoo Young-jin, a veteran producer whose credits include numerous SM Entertainment hits. The group performed the song for the first time at their global debut showcase on October 12, 2026, and the digital single was released on major streaming platforms the following day at 6 PM KST.
Group History
Formation and Pre-Debut
The formation of A2O LITE began after Lee Soo-man established A2O Entertainment in 2024, following his departure from SM Entertainment and the sale of his stake to HYBE Corporation. In 2024, the company introduced its first girl group, A2O MAY, targeting global markets. A2O LITTE was developed as part of a broader trainee system that also included the boy group A2O SOUL. On October 8, 2026, A2O Entertainment launched the official social media accounts for A2O LITE and simultaneously announced the group’s debut date of October 13 with the digital single “NEON”. The same day, the full nine-member lineup was revealed through a VCR introduction on M Countdown, with members OA, Ayune, Xili, and Aijing officially introduced to the public.
Official Debut
A2O LITE held their global debut showcase, titled “WELCOME TO SOULITE From A2O SOUL A2O LITE,” on October 12, 2026, at KINTEX in Ilsan, South Korea. The event was a joint showcase with A2O SOUL, marking Lee Soo-man’s first major public event in Korea in approximately two years and five months. Both groups performed their debut singles for the first time, with A2O LITE presenting “NEON.” The digital single was officially released on October 13 at 6 PM KST across major music streaming platforms.
Breakthrough Success
Within hours of its release, “NEON” entered several Korean music charts. The song debuted at No. 77 on Melon’s TOP100 chart and later rose to No. 43, marking a significant achievement for a debut single from a new group. It also charted on Genie and Bugs, reaching No. 36 and No. 3 respectively. The rapid chart performance generated considerable online discussion about the group’s potential, particularly given the involvement of Lee Soo-man and Yoo Young-jin in the production.
