He first entered the public eye as a contestant on Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017, where he placed sixth and earned a spot in the project group Wanna One. Early Life and Pre-Debut

Woojin was born and raised in Busan, South Korea. Some fan-compiled profiles specify Dadae-dong in Saha-gu as his neighborhood, though this detail has not been confirmed by an official source. He developed an early interest in dance and performance, and he is known to have trained in B-boying, popping, locking, and crumping.

When he was eleven years old, Woojin auditioned for the survival program Superstar K, an experience that predates his later idol training. He initially trained under JYP Entertainment before moving to Brand New Music. Prior to appearing on Produce 101 Season 2, he had trained for approximately one year and two months.

He graduated from the Korean Arts High School in January 2018. Details about his family are limited, but Woojin has publicly mentioned a younger sister named Park Yerim during a Produce 101 broadcast, and this has been repeated in fan-compiled profiles. Further family information is not publicly available.

Produce 101 and Wanna One

Woojin’s career-defining break came in 2017 when he competed on Produce 101 Season 2. He finished sixth with a total of 937,379 votes, securing a place in the project group Wanna One. Wanna One debuted on August 7, 2017, with the mini-album 1X1=1 (To Be One) and the title track “Energetic.” The group quickly became one of the most commercially successful acts of its era, and Woojin gained recognition for his stage presence and dance skills.

Wanna One disbanded on January 27, 2019, after the conclusion of its contracted activities. The disbandment marked the end of a significant chapter, but it also opened the door for Woojin’s permanent debut with Brand New Music’s new boy group.

AB6IX Debut and Group Career

After Wanna One’s disbandment, Brand New Music announced that Woojin would debut in AB6IX alongside fellow Produce 101 trainees Lee Daehwi, Kim Donghyun, and Lim Youngmin, plus Jeon Woong. AB6IX debuted on May 22, 2019, with the EP B:COMPLETE and the title track “Breathe.” The group’s name stands for “Absolute Six,” reflecting the idea that the five members and their fandom, ABNEW, together form a complete unit.

AB6IX achieved early commercial success. The group earned its first music show win on June 4, 2019, with “Breathe” on SBS MTV’s The Show. A second win followed in October 2019 with “Blind for Love.” In 2023, the group added another trophy for “LOSER.”

The group’s lineup changed in 2020 when Lim Youngmin departed, and AB6IX continued as a four-member act with Woong, Donghyun, Woojin, and Daehwi. Over the years, AB6IX released multiple EPs and full-length albums, including 6IXENSE, Mo’ Complete, A to B, Take a Chance, and the The Future Is Ours series.

In 2026, Brand New Music announced that the members’ exclusive contracts would expire on May 25, and that AB6IX would enter an indefinite hiatus after a seventh-anniversary concert, “6IX TO SEVEN,” held on May 23–24, 2026. The group has not disbanded, but group activities are currently paused.

Solo Career

Woojin made his solo debut on February 27, 2023, with the mini-album oWn and the title track “Top Tier.” The EP was described as a personal statement, with Woojin reportedly calling the album “my autobiography.” “Top Tier” is a hip-hop track built on an 808 bass line and a repetitive lead sound, designed to showcase his lower-register rap style.

In June 2026, Woojin signed an exclusive contract with PARA MUSIC, a label home to the group YOUNITE. PARA MUSIC described the signing as a reflection of Woojin’s trust in longtime staff members, and the agency released new profile images alongside the announcement. On October 13, 2026, Woojin released his second EP, SOLSTICE, led by the track “STAMINA.” The Korea Times reported that the EP marked a fresh start for Woojin after a year-and-five-month break and that it expanded his vocal and songwriting work.

Group Role

Woojin is officially credited as AB6IX’s main rapper and main dancer, with vocalist duties as well. He is not the group’s leader; Jeon Woong is the eldest member and leader. Woojin’s role in AB6IX has consistently centered on performance: his rap verses and dance lines are highlighted in title tracks such as “Breathe,” “Blind for Love,” and “LOSER.” He has also participated in songwriting and lyric-writing for the group, and he is known to have contributed to choreography.

Early Life and Education

Woojin’s pre-debut story is closely tied to Busan’s dance culture. His background in B-boying and street dance styles gave him a technical foundation that later translated into idol choreography. He attended the Korean Arts High School and graduated in January 2018. His family life is largely private, though he has publicly acknowledged a younger sister.

Career Journey

Woojin’s career can be divided into three distinct phases:

1. Survival show and project group (2017–2019): Produce 101 Season 2 → Wanna One debut → Wanna One disbandment.
2. AB6IX and group promotions (2019–2026): AB6IX debut → multiple EPs and albums → music show wins → world tours and fan concerts.
3. Solo and agency transition (2023–present): Solo debut with oWn → signing with PARA MUSIC → second EP SOLSTICE.

Family Background

Woojin has mentioned a younger sister named Park Yerim, but further family details are not publicly available. He has not disclosed information about his parents’ occupations or other private family matters.

Notable Songs

• “Blind for Love” (AB6IX) – A darker, more performance-driven track that earned the group a second music show trophy and showcased Woojin’s dance leadership.
• “Top Tier” (solo) – Woojin’s solo debut single, built on an 808 bass and a repetitive lead line, designed to highlight his lower-register rap and ambition.

Music Style and Artistic Evolution

Woojin’s musical identity is rooted in hip-hop and performance. As AB6IX’s main rapper, he typically handles rhythmic, punchline-driven verses, often paired with choreography-intensive sections. His tone is lower and more percussive than a typical idol rapper’s, and he has cited the importance of “witty rhyme and punch line” in his solo work.

His solo material, particularly oWn and SOLSTICE, moves toward a harder hip-hop sound than AB6IX’s group releases. oWn was framed as a personal statement, and SOLSTICE was described as a fresh start that broadened his vocal and songwriting contributions. Woojin’s dance background-B-boying, popping, and locking-continues to inform his performance style, even when he is rapping rather than dancing.
