Who Is NMIXX?
NMIXX is a six-member South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment and managed under its sub-label SQU4D. The group debuted on February 22, 2022, with the single album AD MARE and its lead track “O.O.” They are known for a genre-blending musical approach called “MIXX Pop,” which mixes hip-hop, EDM, pop and vocal-driven sections within a single song.
The current lineup consists of Lily, Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo and Kyujin. Haewon serves as the group’s leader. NMIXX originally debuted as a seven-member group, but member Jinni departed in December 2022 due to what JYP Entertainment described as “personal circumstances.”
The fandom name, NSWER, is an acronym for “North, South, West, East, Route,” reflecting the idea of finding a shared path with fans from every direction. Since their debut, NMIXX has released a studio album, multiple EPs and single albums, and completed their first world tour.
Group History
Formation and Pre-Debut
JYP Entertainment first signalled plans for a new girl group in July 2021, when it opened a “blind package” pre-order for a debut album without revealing the group’s name or members. The project was initially referred to as “JYPn.”
Members were introduced one by one through performance videos and promotional materials throughout late 2021. Lily, who had been a JYP trainee for approximately seven years after competing on K-Pop Star 4, was among the earliest members revealed. Haewon, Sullyoon, Bae, Jiwoo and Kyujin followed, with Kyujin joining JYP through a private audition after developing her dance skills at Withbill Dance Academy.
On January 26, 2022, JYP Entertainment released a video titled “NMIXX NICE TO MIXX YOU,” officially announcing the group name. The name combines “N” – representing “Now,” “New,” “Next” and the unknown “n” – with “MIX,” symbolising the group’s diverse musical identity.
The debut showcase was originally scheduled for February 18, 2022, but was postponed after member Bae tested positive for COVID-19. It eventually took place on March 1, 2022.
Official Debut
NMIXX made their official debut on February 22, 2022, with the single album AD MARE, featuring the title track “O.O” and the B-side “TANK.” The album debuted at No. 2 on the worldwide iTunes album chart and topped iTunes charts in several regions, including Brazil and Mexico. First-week sales reached approximately 227,399 copies, setting a record for the highest first-week sales of any girl group debut album at the time.
The debut received mixed critical reactions. Some reviewers praised the members’ vocal abilities, while others found the abrupt genre shifts in “O.O” jarring. Lily later said in an interview that the divided response was sometimes difficult, but that having any reaction at all was better than indifference.
Member Departure
On December 9, 2022, JYP Entertainment announced that Jinni would be leaving the group due to “personal circumstances” and that her exclusive contract had been terminated. NMIXX continued as a six-member group. No further details about the reason for her departure were officially disclosed. Jinni later opened an Instagram account in March 2023 and subsequently pursued a solo career.
Career Growth and Releases
NMIXX released their second single album, ENTWURF, on September 19, 2022, with the lead track “DICE.” The album’s first-week sales exceeded 442,207 copies, surpassing their debut record.
In March 2023, the group released their first EP, expรฉrgo, led by the single “Love Me Like This.” This release marked their first entry on the Billboard 200 chart. They followed it with the single album A Midsummer NMIXX’s Dream in July 2023, featuring “Party O’Clock.”
The group then released a trilogy of EPs under the Fe3O4 series: Fe3O4: Break (2023), Fe3O4: Stick Out (2024) and Fe3O4: Forward (2025). Their debut full-length studio album, Blue Valentine, arrived in October 2025. A fifth EP, Heavy Serenade, followed in May 2026.

Notable Songs
“O.O” marked the group’s debut and introduced the MIXX Pop concept to the public. Its abrupt genre shifts drew both praise and criticism.
“DICE” demonstrated a more polished approach to MIXX Pop, incorporating jazzy elements and a playful structure.
“Love Me Like This” represented a shift toward R&B and pop influences, and became the group’s first release to enter the Billboard 200.
“DASH” and “KNOW ABOUT ME” continued the group’s evolution, with the Fe3O4 series exploring themes of identity and growth.
“Heavy Serenade” gave NMIXX their first music show win, taking the trophy on M Countdown in May 2026.
Music Style and Artistic Evolution
NMIXX’s musical identity revolves around “MIXX Pop,” a self-described approach that blends multiple genres within a single track. Their songs often shift between hip-hop, EDM, pop, R&B and acapella sections, sometimes with little transition. The style has drawn both praise for its ambition and criticism for its lack of cohesion.
Over time, the group has refined this approach. expรฉrgo and the Fe3O4 series showed a more measured integration of genre shifts, while retaining the experimental edge that defines their sound. Blue Valentine, their first full-length album, presented a more mature and cohesive production style without abandoning their signature unpredictability.
Vocal performance is a central part of NMIXX’s identity. Lily, Haewon and Sullyoon are frequently cited as standout vocalists, and the group’s live performances often feature complex harmonies and ad-libs. Their choreography matches the intensity of their music, with high-energy routines that incorporate elements of hip-hop and contemporary dance.
The lyrical themes across their discography touch on self-discovery, growth and the tension between conformity and individuality – themes that align with the “MIXX” concept of bringing different elements together.
