Athena is the youngest member of FIFTY FIFTY and one of the few K-pop idols born and raised in Sweden. Since joining the group’s rebuilt lineup in 2024, she has moved from a deliberately hidden “mystery member” to a vocalist, visual, and maknae with a public esports ambassadorship and a growing list of group releases. Who Is Athena?
Athena (아테나) is a Swedish-Korean singer under ATTRAKT and the maknae (youngest member) of the girl group FIFTY FIFTY. She was introduced as the fifth and final member of the group’s 2024 relaunch and made her official debut with the mini album Love Tune on September 20, 2024. She contributes as a vocalist and is also publicly positioned as a visual member.
Early Life and Background
Athena Yang was born on March 15, 2007, in Stockholm, Sweden. Her father is Taiwanese and her mother is Korean, and the family has lived in Sweden for her entire life. She has two younger sisters, born in 2008 and 2012.
She grew up in a multilingual household. Publicly shared details indicate she spoke Swedish and Chinese with her father, Korean with her mother, and English with her siblings. She has been described as fluent in Korean, Swedish, and English, with conversational Spanish and Chinese. The claim that she is fluent in “six languages” appears in some fan-compiled sources but is not publicly confirmed by ATTRAKT or Athena herself.
She attended Nordiska Musikgymnasiet, a music-focused high school in Stockholm, according to profile databases. This has not been independently confirmed by a primary source, so treat it as reported.
Trainee and Pre-Debut Career
Athena’s pre-debut path was international rather than the typical Korean trainee pipeline.
She studied classical piano and competed in a Swedish piano competition at age 11, placing first in the elementary division according to fan-compiled records. She also played piano in her school band.
Around 2021, at age 14 or 15, she began attending a K-pop dance academy in Sweden. She later auditioned for SM Entertainment and HIGH UP Entertainment but was not accepted.
In September 2023, she appeared in a YTN News segment at a Korean cultural festival in Stockholm, where she discussed the popularity of K-pop and Korean culture in Sweden. That segment later circulated as an official YTN short after her debut.
In March 2024, she auditioned for ATTRAKT in Korea after being introduced to the agency through an industry contact. According to fan-compiled accounts, she was initially told she would only experience trainee life for four weeks, but she ranked first in the monthly evaluation and stayed. ATTRAKT has not published a detailed official account of this process, so the four-week detail should be labeled reported.
Joining FIFTY FIFTY and Debut
FIFTY FIFTY debuted in November 2022 as a four-member group. After a highly publicized legal dispute between the original members and ATTRAKT, the agency rebuilt the group around remaining original member Keena. In August 2024, ATTRAKT announced four new members: Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana, and a then-unidentified fifth member.
Athena was teased as a “mystery member” through silhouette and partial-reveal content. Her identity was confirmed on August 11–12, 2024, making her the final addition to the five-member lineup.
The relaunched group released the pre-release single “Starry Night” on August 30, 2024, followed by the mini album Love Tune and its lead single “SOS” on September 20, 2024—Athena’s official debut date with FIFTY FIFTY.
K-Pop Career
2024: Relaunch and Love Tune
Athena’s debut era established her as the group’s maknae and a vocalist. The relaunch drew significant international attention because FIFTY FIFTY had achieved a viral global hit with “Cupid” in 2023, and the new lineup was closely watched by both fans and industry observers.
2025: Continued releases
FIFTY FIFTY released the EP Love Tune: Rewired in 2025, along with the digital single “Too Much Part 1” in November 2025. Athena also participated in the group’s third mini album, Day & Night, released in 2025.
2026: Imperfect-I’mperfect and the T1 ambassadorship
FIFTY FIFTY announced a June 2026 comeback with the mini album Imperfect-I’mperfect. The album was released on June 1, 2026, with the title track “Like a Bubble” . Member Hana was on hiatus due to health issues and did not participate in the comeback promotions, though she remained listed as a member.
On June 16, 2026, ATTRAKT and T1 announced that Athena had been selected as the official ambassador for T1 VALORANT, the esports organization’s VALORANT division. The announcement followed her November 2025 appearance on T1 VALORANT’s official YouTube channel. Athena is a documented VALORANT player who has reached Immortal 1 rank and primarily plays controller agents, including Astra, Sage, and Viper. This is a verified official ambassadorship, not a fan claim.
On October 19, 2026, FIFTY FIFTY won first place in the StarTrend K-POP girl group daily vote with 217,908 votes, according to Korean media outlet The Public. StarTrend is a fan-voting platform; this is a reported result, not an official music-show award.
Current Group Status (as of October 2026)
FIFTY FIFTY operates as a five-member group: Keena, Chanelle Moon, Yewon, Hana, and Athena. Hana has been on hiatus since March 2026 for health recovery and did not participate in the Imperfect-I’mperfect comeback. ATTRAKT has confirmed the group’s activities continue with four active members while Hana remains part of the lineup.
In October 2026, FIFTY FIFTY was also announced as a public relations ambassador for Hanam City, and the group’s travel vlog series with the city surpassed 160,000 cumulative YouTube views.
Personality and MBTI
Athena’s MBTI is the most frequently searched personal detail about her, but it is also one of the least consistently reported.
- Kprofiles lists INFP, noting a previous result of INTJ.
- Generasia lists INTJ.
- A fan-compiled Japanese profile notes that she has been reported as either INTJ or INFJ.
No official ATTRAKT or Weverse profile has been found that locks in a single current type. The most accurate statement is that her MBTI has been publicly discussed as INTJ, with some later profiles listing INFP, and readers should treat any single answer as a snapshot rather than a permanent official fact.
Documented personality descriptions from fan-compiled sources and Weverse-adjacent content describe her as a homebody who prefers staying in, enjoys reading, and is sensitive enough that she has been called tearful by group content. These are not official psychological assessments; they are consistent fan-recorded observations from public content.
