Songwriter Kim Sin-il filed a lawsuit against J.Y. Park, alleging that his song, Someday, was plagiarized from his song, To My Man. The song, Someday, was written by Park.

Kim reported that the beginnings of both songs, which included jazz chords, were identical. Park, on the other hand, refuted the charges. The Seoul Central District Court sentenced Kim to pay 21.67 million Won in damages in 2012.

In 2013, he was ordered by the Seoul High Court to pay Kim 56.93 million Won. The Supreme Court, however, overruled the verdict due to additional evidence indicating the melody and chords were very widespread.
